HSGOM from 2003 has been giving orphans
and vulnerable children a chance to realize their full potential.
For a
child we found on the streets, hungry, dirty, rejected and without hope;
we have given hope back through Jesus Christ.
We believe
that through education, these children can break out of the poverty web.

HSGOM
is
located in Iganga, 127km East of Kampala the capital of Uganda. Iganga
has a population of 50,000 people and an annual Population growth rate
of 2.8%. An HIV Prevalence rate of 15% and a poverty rate 55%.

Uganda has been recognized for being
at the forefront of organizing an effective response to HIV/AIDS prevention.
Prevalence rates have been significantly reduced, but are still unacceptably
high at a rate of 5% (UNAIDS, June 2002). The impact of HIV/AIDS, however,
is being felt across all sectors. In December 2002, it was estimated that
over 1 million people are living with HIV/AIDS in Uganda, with the number of
new infections estimated at close to 100,000. Since the beginning of the
epidemic in the early 80’s, close to 1 million people in Uganda have died.
There are estimated to be over 2 million orphaned children in Uganda (Uganda
AIDS Commission, 2002).
We cannot settle because of the
achievements in fighting the spread of HIV/AIDS. What about the 2million
orphaned children?
We seek justice for the oppressed and
we speak for the hopeless.
Isaiah 58:7 "Is it not to share your
bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are
cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself
from your own flesh?
